Suniel Shetty on Yashpal Sharma: He was a gentleman cricketer – Exclusive | Hindi Movie News

Former Indian cricketer Yashpal Sharma passed away today after suffering a heart attack. Many renowned personalities from the world of sports and entertainment took to their social media to mourn the loss of the World Cup-winning cricketer. The lead star of ’83’, Ranveer Singh also shared a post for the late cricketer. Actor and cricket enthusiast Suniel Shetty spoke exclusively to ETimes, remembering the legendary cricketer.

Remembering his brilliant work as a sports personality, Shetty said, “It is sad that he’s gone, because he was a gentleman cricketer, soft spoken, the most senior sportsman, too. He had a great sense of humour, was a great human being and the movie ‘83’, which I believe is brilliant, will add to his legacy. My condolences to the family and may he rest in peace. We saw his passion in the 1983 World Cup and I’ve watched every single match other than the Zimbabwe game, so I’ve had fond memories of him too and I pray Yashpalji rests in peace.”

We also asked the actor about his recent visit to Hyderabad. Revealing further details, Shetty said, “I am currently shooting for the film ‘Ghani’ in Hyderabad. We were on a break for a long time. We took a break for a month and a half because Hyderabad wasn’t doing that well with Covid infections, but now it’s much better. We are shooting in a very safe environment. All the precautions that need to be taken have been put into place. I am glad that shoot has started. I only pray now that theatres open and the film business, which has suffered the maximum, gets back on track. We all should pray that this industry stands back up as soon as it can.”
